Genre Research: 47 Meters Down
In this 2017 thriller, two young sisters decide to go on a vacation to Mexico. Kate and Lisa decide to take a dive in shark-infested waters. Lisa seems to be more hesitant about the decision since the place seems to be a bit sketchy. Once on the boat, the sisters head into their cage and meet some Great White sharks. Unfortunately, the cage breaks away from the boat and the sisters are now stuck underwater with only themselves and some hungry sharks. They only have a short supply of oxygen and limited time. The lack of oxygen starts to mess with their heads and it ends with only one sister alive.
Elements our pitch and movie have: Both our final task and the movie share the element of surprise. The mother had no idea her best friend would end up killing her, how could she? It ends in her demise just like one of the sisters in 47 meters down. The sisters were probably surprised that the cage broke from the boat. Also surprised about how long they were under there.
Elements I like: This movie when seeing in theatres was really exciting to see. I took on a different way of portraying a classic thriller movie. Almost all the film was shot in the same location. However, the movie never got boring. It kept me on my toes.
Elements I don't like: I feel as though this movie lacked realistic elements. I don't understand why it took so long for the rescue team to find them. They must have been underwater for many hours. Up to the point where the sisters began hallucinating.
