Introduction to Media Studies

        Hey friends, my name is Fatima Faya and I attend Fort Lauderdale High school, this year I am officially a Junior and will be turning 17 this October, finally! Unfortunately, I don't have my permit or license, yes, I know, it's sad. However, life has been pretty good so far. The first months of quarantine were kind of frustrating, I spent my days lounging around and craving social contact. These last few months were pretty good though, I got to wake up at whatever time and spent countless hours watching my favorite shows on Netflix and would occasionally do something productive. If we weren't in a life-threatening pandemic right now I would probably in a foreign country sipping virgin margaritas. No seriously, one of my favorite hobbies is traveling, it's so fun getting to explore other landscapes and cultures. 

      Traveling to Peru is my favorite, both my parents are from there and most of my family lives there as well. On average I'd travel to Peru about once every two months. This is possible because my mom works for an airline and traveling is so much cheaper. I'm very much so missing my family over there right now. Being away from them for 7 months has been very difficult, so when its safe to go back we are going to have the time of our lives.  I miss mostly the food and all my friends, they can't live without me. 

      Fortunately, no one in my family or anyone in my life was affected by COVID. We were being responsible and decent humans and stayed home, only left if needed. Wear your masks guys! If I had to pin the saddest part of quarantine it would be my beloved fish, Guppy, dying. He was only in my life for a couple months but they were the best I've ever had. He kept me company and always listen to what I had to say. R.I.P Guppy. Love you, dude. 
                                       

   Recently, Ive gained an addiction to online shopping, maybe beacuse its the only way for me to spend money unncesarily, people say im financally irresponsible but I say you only live once. Ive also gotten into makeup. Sometimes in the middle of the night I would get up and just practice on my face. Its a good way to "unleash my inner artist" as popular makeup guru, James Charles would say. Wierdly enough, I really like to clean. Sometimes I just get an urge to clean my whole house, my parents dont complain. Its very theraputic. 
                                                

    Now, Im just anticipating the moment that we go back to school, if we ever do. My birthday is also coming up so thats pretty cool too and most importanly, Christmas! The best time of the year. Ho! Ho! Ho!

  Before: Once I finished filming and made sure I had all my scenes and looked back at them to make sure I was happy with them. I also deleted any extra videos saved in my camera roll that was not going to be used. Now, I started my editing process. During: During my editing process I officially sat down and began working on my commercial. The editing software that I used was Cute Cut Pro. I added the first scene of my commercial and cut up any extra time. Then, I added the next scene and made sure that the transition was clean and not choppy. I noticed that already with my first two scenes, my commercial was already 14 seconds. I felt like I needed to cut it up more. I tried to make it so each scene added up to 5 seconds. Once I finished adding my other scenes I added the rest of my scenes and again made sure they transitioned smoothly. Editing Blog for my Music Video

 Before: Now that my partner and I finished filming all our scenes we began editing. At this point, we had realized the mistake that we had made. We forgot that we needed to film our video horizontally and not vertically. We couldn't go back and retake the scenes because it was already dark outside.  During: When I was younger I would make random edits of my favorite celebrities and influencers. Because of this I already had some minor experience with using editing software. I did most of the editing but my partner was the creative director behind it. The first part was picking a good part of the song to use for our music video. I went on Youtube and Suzie suggested using the part of the song where there is less singing because it would fit better with our video. We did just that and got the 30 seconds of the song we needed. Lip-gloss Commercial Blog

 Youtube Link:  https://youtu.be/m8puPEq23A4     My overall experience with this commercial project was great. I really love the product I chose, I use it often and think its a great lip-gloss. When it comes to production, I enjoyed the way I filmed my project and edited it. I think it really represents who I am and the passion I have for makeup and beauty. The filming was pretty smooth and enjoyable. Editing was also fun, after I figured out home to do transitions and how to make my commercial the right length. I wish I would have incorporated all the aspects that I had on my storyboard and in my head into my commercial. However, I had limited time and wasn't able to fully create the commercial I wanted to. However, I am still very proud of what I created and think it's really close to what I intended it to be.
