Genre Decision Blog
We decided that our opening scene for our film will be a thriller. We think thriller is the best genre that fits with our pitch. Our pitch again is a mother tries to make her best friend a godmother but it all backfires in her demise since the concept is dark and suspenseful. After doing our research we thought it would fit best over drama. As much as drama would also fit well, the concept is a bit darker. It involves death and mystery. Drama is the more lighthearted version of a thriller. Thriller is involved more with the mystery behind certain events. Such as the death of the mother and how it came to be. A lot of questions will be raised. Why? What? and How? Our goal is to have our audience on edge and not expecting what is going to happen next. The audience is most likely going to feel the same emotions as the protagonist. She had no idea her best friend has these feelings towards her and her son. She will most likely regret making her the godmother but it will be too late. Her mission is to get rid of her best friend and make sure she and her son are safe since the godmother will go to any extent to have the child as her own. The first scene is just going to have a lot of anticipation. The audience will feel overwhelmed and somethings won't add up until the very end. The mystery part also then ties in, the godmother gets away with it until the end where pieces start adding up and the truth is revealed.
