Critical Reflection Questions

Image
 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?      Our music video challenges conventions because it takes on a different perspective from a classic pop music video. We mainly wanted to focus on the message of the song rather than the actual music video. The only convention that we did include in our video is that we wanted to express our happiness, which is very common to see in pop music videos. We dance around for a scene and did our makeup, all aspects that could be seen in today's music video. Seeing girls get ready to go out and pick out their outfits are common conventions. One example is Iggy Azalea's music video to Fancy, the entire music video was inspired by the classic rom-com Clueless. She began the video by picking out an outfit and getting ready for school, a common introduction to see in pop music videos by female artists.      Like we mentioned, the most important part of...

AICE Media Studies Music Video

Music Video YT Link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU61omQpq_0&feature=youtu.be     My overall experience with this music video was great.  I really enjoyed filming it and the editing process was very simple. At first, I was concerned that the theme we planned on doing was going to be too casual. However, I think the video and the song fit very well together. Doing a song by Michael Jackson was also really awesome, as he is one of my favorite artists. When planning our music video we switched back and forth with ideas. We weren't too sure exactly what we wanted to do at the park. The only thing that was set in stone from the get co was our location. From there we decided what exactly we wanted to do, we chose to have a picnic. Filming that was fairly easy, it took us a while to find a good spot to set up but we found a good one. We did take a little while to film because we couldn't keep a straight face. Our next scenes also took a w...

Editing Blog for my Music Video

Before: Now that my partner and I finished filming all our scenes we began editing. At this point, we had realized the mistake that we had made. We forgot that we needed to film our video horizontally and not vertically. We couldn't go back and retake the scenes because it was already dark outside.  During: When I was younger I would make random edits of my favorite celebrities and influencers. Because of this I already had some minor experience with using editing software. I did most of the editing but my partner was the creative director behind it. The first part was picking a good part of the song to use for our music video. I went on Youtube and Suzie suggested using the part of the song where there is less singing because it would fit better with our video. We did just that and got the 30 seconds of the song we needed. The software we used to edit is Cute Cut Pro, I've used this software multiple times because it is so easy to use and makes editing so much more enjoyabl...

Filming Blog for my Music Video

Complications when filming: Once my partner Suzie had arrived at my house we immediately began our work. I showed her the picnic basket I had found in my closet. Id had never been used and this was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of it. We did face quite a few challenges along the way. First of all, that picnic basket was not light. My partner and I had to walk all the way to the park holding it. Once getting there we took a minute to pick out a spot. Mainly because a part of it was closed and we didn't want to disturb the people around us. Now picking the perfect spot we set up the scene. I filmed the POV shot of Suzie, we took a couple because we couldn't keep a straight face. Also, I wanted to make sure we got a good angle. Unfortunately, both of us shot most of our scenes vertically and we didn't notice until we began editing. After our picnic scene, we filed one of us walking home. I was holding the picnic basket and Suzie filmed me in an attempt to make a...

Filming Blog for my Music Video

Before: Before filming, I got ready and picked out an outfit appropriate for the music video. Then, I waited for Suzie, my partner to come over to begin the filming process. We filmed last Sunday, the weather was nice and we didn't encounter any problems. During: Now that Suzie had arrived, we got ready to head to our filming location. The first location was the park, only one block away from my house. Suzie picked out a good spot and set up the picnic. Now that we finished setting up, we began to film our first scene. I filmed the establishing shot of the park since it was our first scene. We both then sat down and began filming our next scene. I filmed a POV clip of Suzie and she did the same for me. Then we wanted to film an aesthetically pleasing scene where we have fun walking down the street. I filmed Suzie and then she filmed me. Now arrived at my house, we set up our next scene. This scene will be of us playing just dance. Just Dance is our favorite game so that's why...
